Local Liverpool newspaper the Liverpool Echo, says Mario Balotelli should apologise to every single one of the club’s fans for swapping shirts with Pepe at half-time during the 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid last night.
Balotelli has outraged plenty of supporters following the incident as he walked off with the Portuguese star with Liverpool trailing 3-0 at the break.
Brendan Rodgers was left angry with his £16 million player after the game for the action, rather than Balotelli showing urgency to get into the dressing room and sort out what was going wrong on the pitch.
“Balotelli owes every Liverpool fan an apology after swapping shirts with Pepe at half-time last night,” summarised the paper.
Rodgers’ anger could lead to Balotelli being dropped to the bench for the game against Hull this weekend, where Liverpool will be looking for a much better performance than they managed against QPR last weekend.
If he sticks with the Italian then he’ll be under pressure to score and win over fans who are growing disgruntled with his performances this season.
