After losing 8-0 to Southampton last weekend Sunderland look in dire need of defensive reinforcements.
Of course the transfer window is closed, leaving there options reduced to free agents. Luckily, they have had one on trial recently, and today he was unveiled as a fully-fledged Sunderland player.
Anthony Reveillere has agreed a deal at the Stadium of Light until the end of the season and Sunderland have brought in an experienced player who has played at the highest level.
He has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and QPR in the past and with good reason.
The versatile defender has 20 caps for France and was part of the very successful Lyon team that dominated French football for much of the last decade.
In his career he has won Ligue 1 on five occasions as well as the Coppa Italia with Napoli last term - who he joined on a similar short-term deal last season after leaving Lyon.
Lyon would never have let him go were it not for their own financial problems, so to see this 77 Champions League fixtures veteran rock up at Sunderland will certainly give the fans some hope of going in the right direction again.
