What are peoples view on Balotelli's shirt swap at half time? Acceptable or not? pic.twitter.com/K1KmZz6RlF— BarrettSportsTherapy (@BarrettTherapy) October 23, 2014
Mario Balotelli's decision to swap shirts with Pepe at half-time of Liverpool's match against Real Madrid has been one which has been focused on heavily be the media.
The shirt-swapping action has dominated the headlines more than the result of the match, as the criticism of Balotelli's performances grows.
The Liverpool Echo ran a back-page spread demanding an apology from Balotelli, whilst numerous pundits have spoken out against the 24-year-old.
However, it is not the first time a Liverpool player has done this in recent times.
As shown, in the pictures below, Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho have also done exactly the same previously, but there was little attention given to them.
Coutinho swapped shirts with Oscar when Chelsea played Liverpool last season, and Sakho did the same with Samuel Eto'o in the same match.
There was little furore created then, though, and it adds to the feeling that Balotelli is simply being made a scapegoat at Anfield.
There can be no doubting that he hasn't reached top form since signing at the club, but there are far greater problems for Liverpool at the moment than one of their players swapping shirts at half-time.
