Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has said that he has been impressed with Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois.
The two goalkeepers will come face-to-face at Old Trafford when United host Chelsea in the Premier League.
De Gea and Courtois are widely considered as two of the best young ‘keepers in Europe, and the former has respect for the Belgium international.
‘I saw him at Atletico (Madrid)’, the 23-year-old told United’s official website. ‘I think he played very well. ‘Of course, he is a great goalie. He is young, he is big and he is good with the crosses. I think he is one of the best goalies’.
As the stats below show, De Gea and Courtois have been hugely impressive so far this season and could become two of the greatest goalkeepers of their generation.

De Gea has also given an insight into how he is preparing for the encounter against Chelsea and said: ‘We watch everything (of the opposition on videos): free kicks, penalties, the strikers, everything’.
United will head into Sunday’s game needing to win the game, and De Gea will have to play his part. With Chelsea looking immensely strong and banging in the goals even without star striker Diego Costa, it could come down to the Spain international whether Louis van Gaal’s side survive the onslaught or not.
