Tottenham latest, Bentaleb and Pochettino target silverware, Europa League build-up

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur ahead of tonight's Europa League clash against Asteras Tripolis

Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has said that Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has instilled a winning spirit to the side since he arrived from Southampton in the summer.

In an interview with the London Evening Standard, Bentaleb is confident the side has what it takes to deliver silverware by winning the Europa League, along with a top-four finish this season.

He said: “We want both things and I’m sure we can achieve our target. That is what big clubs and good teams want.

“There is a winning spirit now. Of course, you always want to win but there are ways of doing it, ways to prepare. We train very hard, and that is where everything starts."

Pochettino himself has been talking about delivering trophies to the London Evening Standard, saying: "I am sure that in the end we achieve something important. Maybe in six months, maybe in one year, or maybe in two years.

"But I am sure that the club, in the end, will achieve a very important trophy."

Tottenham are in Europa League action tonight and are looking to improve on their start which has seen them take two points from their opening two games, by getting their first win of the group stages against Asteras Tripolis tonight at White Hart Lane.

Left-back Ben Davies has been previewing the game for the Tottenham website thinks the side have been unlucky not to have registered their first win so far.

He said: “I think we were probably unlucky to concede late on in the last game against Besiktas. If we’d seen the game out and picked up the three points I think the group would have a totally different outlook.

“But it’s all about us. We have to concentrate on our performance and if we put a good one in we’ll be able to get the three points.”
