Arsenal legend Ian Wright has asked the club’s fans not to expect too much success this season.
The former England international striker made the comments on social networking site Twitter on Wednesday evening following the Gunners’ narrow 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in Belgium in the Champions League Group D.
I dont think we should get our hopes up to high!Let's take what we get.Otherwise there's gonna be a lot of disappointed people this season— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) October 22, 2014
Arsenal have made a truly disappointing start to the 2014-15 campaign, and Wright is right to temper expectations.
The North London club are currently seventh in the Premier League table with 11 points from eight matches, two points behind fourth-placed West Ham United and 11 points off the pace.
Arsene Wenger’s side have fared somewhat better in the Champions League so far, but they have not been entirely convincing. On Wednesday, Arsenal needed late goals to get the better of Anderlecht 2-1 in Belgium.
There is still time for Arsenal to rescue their season, but the signs are not looking good at the moment.
