Everton fans took to Twitter following Thursday's 0-0 Europa League draw at Lille to have their say on Romelu Lukaku's performance coming off the bench.

Everton managed to earn a point from their Europa League trip to Lille, as Roberto Martinez’s side held firm in front of 8,000 travelling fans for 90 minutes to eke out a 0-0 draw.

The Toffees made six changes from the weekend’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa, with Tony Hibbert, Sylvain Distin, Aiden McGeady, Steven Pienaar, Muhamed Besic and Samuel Eto'o all called into action.

£28 million club-record signing Romelu Lukaku was one of those to drop to the bench, but his introduction in the 64th-minute appeared to spark the visitors into life, as he immediately set up a golden opportunity for McGeady which the Irishman was unable to tuck away.

With fellow Belgian and Liverpool summer signing Divock Origi on the opposing side, Lukaku looked like the most dangerous player on the pitch for the final 25 minutes and, though he failed to find the back of the net, the display was a reassuring one after a few recent poor performances.

Fans were certainly encouraged at the final whistle, and many took to Twitter to have their say on the imposing front man, following a result which leaves the club sitting top of Group H with five points from their opening three games.
