Ben Davies says Tottenham Hotspur need to concentrate hard when they take on Asteras this evening.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is frustrated the side didn’t see out the game against Turkish team Besiktas.
Besiktas grabbed a draw at White Hart Lane in the latest round of Europa League fixtures and Tottenham’s Welsh star says the group should have a very different outlook.
“We realise that Asteras Tripolis are going to be a good team and whoever they put in front of us we’ll have to deal with their threats,” he told Tottenham’s website.
“I think we were probably unlucky to concede late on in the last game against Besiktas. If we’d seen the game out and picked up the three points I think the group would have a totally different outlook.”
“But it’s all about us. We have to concentrate on our performance and if we put a good one in we’ll be able to get the three points.”
Tottenham go into the game as heavy favourites with manager Mauricio Pochettino likely to make a number of changes to his team, ahead of an important Premier League game against Newcastle.
Spurs are currently third while Asteras top Group C after the first two group games. Tottenham are still hunting for their first win in the competition this season and Pochettino will be eager for the attack to improve on just one goal scored already.
If the defence can protect the one goal conceded and add another clean sheet this evening then Spurs have a great chance of winning and moving above their opponents in the Group C table ahead of the second half of group games.
