Arsenal morning news: United target reveals love for Arsenal; Mertesacker on Podolski

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

German international Antonio Rudiger could soon become an Arsenal transfer target - after the VfB Stuttgart man admitted his love for The Gunners.

The defender, who has also been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham, has recently made his debut for the World Champions and is considered one of the brightest defensive talents in German football.

Stuttgart have admitted they may have to sell the player at the right price and Rudiger's most recent comments suggest that he would prefer Arsenal over another destination.

He told Bild:

"I have always dreamed of the Premier League. I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp. I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt.

"My heart beats for Arsenal."

Rudiger is valued at around £7 million by the Bundesliga outfit and Arsenal could add him to their growing German contingent.

Per Mertesacker has been discussing Lukas Podolski, after the German international scored a late winner against Anderlecht last night to seal a dramatic Champions League victory.

The forward has been linked with a move away from The Emirates recently. He openly admitted considering his future at the club earlier in the month after continually struggling to play regular first-team football.

But his international buddy Mertesacker believes he still wants to play for Arsenal:

“We are very happy to have Podolski and that he still has that motivation to get out there, give his all for the team when we need him and to score this goal. He was still fresh and could decide the game with his left foot."
