Manchester United winger Angel di Maria is expected to be available for the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday, according to a report.
Di Maria was substituted in the second half of the league clash at West Bromwich Albion on Monday due to a thigh injury, and there were doubts that he could sit out the encounter against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
However, The Telegraph reports that the Argentina international winger will overcome the problem and is not worried about it.
While claiming that the 26-year-old underwent ‘treatment on a squad day off at the club’s training ground on Wednesday’, the report added: ‘Despite initial concerns, however, Di Maria is understood to be largely untroubled by the problem and the United manager, Louis van Gaal, is confident that the Argentine will be available on Sunday’.
The latest injury update on Di Maria will come as a huge boost to United’s chances of winning against Chelsea.
Former Real Madrid star Di Maria, who joined United in the summer transfer window for a British-record fee of £59.7 million, has been arguably the Red Devils’ best player so far this season.
The Argentine has scored three goals and has created 18 chances in six league appearances, while winning 45% of his duels and having a 81% pass accuracy.
United will need Di Maria to be at his best to get the better of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea on Sunday. The Manchester outfit are currently 10 points behind the leaders and cannot afford to fall behind any further.
