Moussa Sissoko has praised Gabriel Obertan after he scored Newcastle United's winner against Leicester City at the weekend.
Obertan netted a vital goal for the Magpies, as they secured their first-three points of the season and Sissoko has moved to encourage the winger today.
The former Manchester United man had looked to be heading towards the exit door at St. James' Park over the summer, but he has forced his way back into contention with a fine run of form and Sissoko has clearly been impressed by his French compatriot.
“Gabby is a fantastic player,” Sissoko said to the Sunderland Echo. “He played very well and scored, so we are happy for him.
“I hope, for him, he will continue to work hard and help the team.”
Obertan's goal may have been a long-time coming, but it was worth the wait as he breezed past numerous defenders before slotting the ball home with a nice finish.
It was an indication of the quality that he possesses, but has not shown with any regularity since arriving in the North-East in 2012.
The hope is that he can finally find his feet now, and Alan Pardew will be desperate for Obertan to keep his form up.
The side have struggled for goals over the opening course of the season and having the flying-winger at the top of his game will only help them climb the table.
Newcastle are next in action this weekend when they face Tottenham Hotspur and they will be looking for Obertan to be a useful outlet in the match at White Hart Lane.
