Manchester United youngster Will Keane says that Phil Jones is the most competitive trainer at the club.
Although United have a number of high-profile players, Keane says that Jones' desire to win possession back - even in training sessions - stands out above the rest.
The striker admits that it is though to play against the England international defender and his bravery is obvious, even outside the competitive environment of match-day.
"One of them [the most competitive trainers] has to be Phil Jones," he said to the club's official site. "He doesn't hold back – he just puts his head where it hurts all the time. He definitely flies into every tackle. All the lads are determined, to be honest, but he sometimes looks even more determined because he puts his foot in where some people would hesitate. He's my pick."
Jones' desire to win possession back is also evident when he is on the pitch, but this is something which has often been to his downfall.
Although a strong determination to win the ball is never a bad thing in a defender, it can lead to Jones' defending appearing erratic.
Jones has been criticised for being too eager to win the ball back, when the opportunity to do so is not available, and this attitude may have to be curbed under Louis Van Gaal.
United have made improvements in recent weeks, especially going forward, but their defence remains a worry and Jones will need to have a good season if they are to make it into the top four and meet expectations.
