Colombian international midfielder Fredy Guarin seemed to have been successfully reintegrated at Inter, but there are new rumours that he wants to leave.
Guarin had been on the brink of leaving Inter for rivals Juventus back in January in a swap deal for Mirko Vucinic, but the move fell through at the last minute.
The midfielder was left in an awkward position having already greeted his move to Juve warmly and it was suggested that Manchester United may swoop to spare his blushes.
However, United had other priorities and Chelsea and Tottenham who were also said to be interested didn't table offers.
Over the summer Guarin was close to joining Spanish side Valencia, but Inter wanted an outright sale rather than the loan the La Liga club were hoping for.
Much will depend on whether United are still interested in Juventus star Arturo Vidal and are willing to take a risk on a player who has suffered from recurring knee problems.
If Louis van Gaal believes Vidal to be a liability, he may move for Guarin, who would cost around £12 million.
