Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has said that he is looking forward to playing against his former club Liverpool on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old full-back was on the books of the Premier League club from January 2007 until the end of the 2008-09 season. During his time at Liverpool, Arbeloa established himself as one of the better defenders in Europe and was re-signed by Madrid.
The former Spain international has been hugely successful at the Spanish club over the past five or so years, winning La Liga and the Champions League once each.
On Wednesday, Arbeloa will face Liverpool in the Champions League Group B, and he is relishing the prospect of playing at Anfield once again.
@ChampionsLeague of course!!! Really happy to be back in Liverpool! Can't wait for the game! ;)— Álvaro Arbeloa (@aarbeloa17) October 21, 2014
Arbeloa clearly has fond memories of his time at Liverpool, but on Wednesday the former Deportivo La Coruna star will have one target in mind: to lead Madrid to victory.
Madrid will head into the match as huge favourites, having some of the best attacking players in the world. However, Anfield is not an easy place to win, and the Reds will fancy their chances of staging an upset.
