Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli’s season has gone from bad to worse.
The Italy international was expected to step up his game against Real Madrid in the Champions League Group B clash at Anfield on Wednesday, but he failed to do so.
Balotelli was hugely disappointing against the defending European champions and played for only the first 45 minutes. And then on his way down the players’ tunnel, the 24-year-old former AC Milan star was caught on camera swapping shirts with Madrid defender Pepe.
Swapping shirts at the end of matches is quite common, doing so at half time less so. Balotelli was not brought on for the second half of the match, which ended in a 3-0 victory for Madrid.
Liverpool fans will certainly not be pleased with Balotelli swapping shirts with Pepe at half time. The former Manchester City star’s disappointing start to the 2014-15 season has seen many club’s fans get frustrated and angry with him.
Balotelli may not have meant to annoy the Liverpool supporters with his antics on Wednesday, but he certainly has done so. Manager Brendan Rodgers has already said that the matter will be dealt ‘internally’, and suddenly things are beginning to fall apart.
