Roberto Martinez has praised the form of Steven Naismith this season, and says that the Scot has reached an incredible level.
Naismith has been one of Everton's star performers so far this season and Martinez paid tribute to the form of the front-man yesterday.
In an interview with the Mirror he said: "He can play in so many ways and so many different roles because of his football intelligence. It is a valuable asset for us, and he has shown the incredible level he has reached.
“I was pleased to see the reaction of the whole crowd toward him after the Villa game, because because no-one deserves it more than him. They know what an impressive performer he is.”
Naismith is Everton's top-scorer over the course of the season so far and has surprised many with the level of his performances.
Although he is a tireless worker, many felt that the 28-year-old would have to take a back-seat this year after the club's summer spend, but he is one of the first names on the team-sheet at the moment.
Whether he will be able to maintain this form for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but he appears to be a key member of Martinez's side at the moment.
The Toffees have started the season in poor form, but their win over Aston Villa could provide them with the momentum they desperately needed to start climbing up the table.
The Meryseyside outfit's next game comes against Burnley on Sunday, and anything other than three points will be considered a disappointment.
