GK - Iker Casillas
The Spaniard may be struggling at the moment but so is Simon Mignolet. Throw in the fact that Casillas was won pretty much every trophy under the sun and that guarantees him a place over the Belgian, even if he has been awfully shaky over the last few years.
LB - Albero Moreno
The first Liverpool player to make our XI, Moreno is looking so good now that he could become twice the player Marcelo is when he reaches the Brazilian's current age.
CB - Sergio Ramos
No Liverpool centre-back dares come near this combined XI.
CB - Pepe
Ahem, no Liverpool centre-back dares come near this combined XI.
RB - Dani Carvajal
Javier Manquillo has been okay but not good enough to challenge the Madrid man.
CDM - Steven Gerrard
Based on recent form, here is perhaps where we are being at our most generous. Jordan Henderson is arguably more of a driving force from the Reds' midfield on the average day at the moment, while Real Madrid's long line of midfielders could grace any team. But Gerrard is a leader and the man for the big occasions. Those are priceless qualities.
CDM - Luka Modric
The former Tottenham Hotspur man is easily one of the best midfielders in the game right now.
CAM - Raheem Sterling
Up front, of course, is where things get tricky - as Real Madrid have such an abundance of talent going forward and Brendan Rodgers' men have not exactly been scoring with freedom. Sterling gets the nod here, though, as his potential could very easily see him become one of the best players on the planet. Carlo Ancelotti himself rates him, although James Rodriguez would probably be preferred by many.
LW - Cristiano Ronaldo
No need to explain this one.
RW - Gareth Bale
Not much need to explain the former Spurs man, too, although he is on the right to accommodate others in this team.
CF - Daniel Sturridge
Unless Ronaldo plays up front, there is a cogent argument is suggesting that Daniel Sturridge could get into the Real Mardid team when fully fit. He is better than Javier Hernandez and can produce in big games, something Karim Benzema has often not done.
As stated, though, this is a Liverpool-generous combined XI. It would be very easy to have all 11 Real Madrid players...
