Tottenham latest, links with Ajax defender, could Paulinho return to old club?

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur Football Club this Wednesday evening.

Tottenham are linked with another defender in the form of Ajax's Niklas Moisander according to TalkSport - who cite reports from Italy.

Moisander will have only six months left on his contract at the Dutch giants in January with the Finland international also attracting interest from Napoli.

Midfielder Paulinho is being linked with a move away from the club according to the London Evening Standard, with the Brazilian said to be attracting the interest of his old club Corinthians.

Paulinho was signed for £16 million in the summer of 2013 but failed to have the desired impact last term and doesn't appear to be first choice for Mauricio Pochettino.

Defender Jan Vertonghen is happy at the club according to Pochettino, despite the Belgian reportedly refusing to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane.

The Spurs boss is quoted by London24 saying that Vertonghen has never said he wants to leave the club.

He said: “I never hear from Jan that he wants to leave or change something. It is impossible to hear or to trust in other people around him because, for me, it is important when we have a chat inside my office – Jan never told me he wants to leave the club.

“I have trust in my player and Jan never told me about that. He is happy at Tottenham. Maybe sometimes he wants to play more but my decision is to take a decision. He is happy and I’m happy with him.”

Ahead of their Europa League clash with Asteras Tripolis, Pochettino said that Nabil Bentaleb is still sidelined with an ankle injury.
