That is the opinion of former strike superstar Gary Lineker, who competed in the top tier of both Spain and England for Barcelona and Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
Pundits in the football industry in England have oft proclaimed the Premier League to be the world's best product offering league football.
However, Lineker counters that notion by simply pointing to the half-time demolition job that Real Madrid dished out to Liverpool on Wednesday evening.
"We might have to stop pretending that the Premier League's the strongest in the world," he said on Twitter.
"Most entertaining it may be, but La Liga is stronger."
Lineker scored 52 goals for Barcelona and won the Copa del Rey and European Cup Winners Cup during his time at Camp Nou.
He won the FA Cup with Tottenham Hotspur in 1991.
