Lucas Leiva should be fit, but Mamadou Sakho is definitely not available.
Liverpool have a real challenge on their hands tonight as the Champions League gets back into full swing. They take on the reigning European champions and La Liga giants Real Madrid at Anfield with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema all hoping to get one over on the Premier League side.
It is night's like this that Liverpool fans crave and Brendan Rodgers has admitted that a couple of weeks ago he met some fans who told him to be ready for a cacophony of noise at Anfield this evening.
Real Madrid also know that this will not be an easy task - with Anfield still one of the most feared grounds in Europe, especially on a big European night like tonight.
Rodgers, in the same interview where he mentioned the intrepid fans he bumped into, gave an upadat on some of the Liverpool injuries ahead of the game.
While Real Madrid are without Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos Liverpool will once again have to make do without Daniel Sturridge - still recovering from a calf injury picked up just days after returning from a thigh complaint.
Alberto Moreno was rested at the weekend but is expected to start the game and Rodgers has now updated the Liverpool team news regarding Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho - confirming one should be fit, the other will definitely not be available.
He told the official website:
"We've obviously a couple of niggles from the game at the weekend but we'll see how that is," said Rodgers. "Lucas Leiva was out for the weekend, so we're hoping he'll be available for [Madrid]. Mamadou Sakho is still out, so he won't be available."
Lucas is however unlikely to start while Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel should form the centre-back partnership this evening.
