‘The atmosphere after we beat Arsenal in my first season at White Hart Lane’, the 43-year-old told Sport360. ‘When you win a derby it is massively important. That was a good day for us’.
The match Friedel is referring to was played at White Hart Lane on October 2, 2011. It was a thrilling contest and ended in a 2-1 victory over Spurs.
Rafael van der Vaart put Tottenham ahead with the 10,000th goal in the club's history in the 40th minute, but Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey restored parity in the 51st minute.
Tottenham, though, had the last laugh in the feisty North London derby as Kyle Walker scored from long range on 73 minutes to help his side pick up the three points.
However, it was Arsenal who had a better Premier League campaign in 2011-12 as they finished third in the table, a point above Tottenham.
