Bolton fans react on Twitter to Beckford's performance v Charlton

Bolton Wanderers fans took to Twitter following Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic to have their say on Jermaine Beckford's performance.

Neil Lennon suffered his first defeat in charge of Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night as the Championship strugglers suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Charlton Athletic.

The Trotters had managed a 1-0 win at Birmingham City on the weekend in Lennon’s first game at the helm, but fell behind at the Valley just before the half-hour when George Tucudean tucked home.

Johnnie Jackson then added a second six minutes after the break and, while Dean Moxey pulled a goal back with a low drive soon after, the visitors simply couldn’t find the equaliser over the final 35 minutes.

‘We should have got something, but “should” doesn't cut it,’ Lennon told the BBC after the match.

‘The reaction to going a goal down and two goals down was good, but it would be nice to stop going two goals down.

‘The structure, the passing, the movement was excellent, it was just the last bit that was missing. We need to do a bit of work.’

With Bolton currently sitting 23rd in the table, having taken just eight points from their first 13 games, much of the frustration from fans on the night appeared to be directed towards striker Jermaine Beckford, who is yet to register a goal in nine league appearances so far this season.

The statistics in fact paint a fairly commendable picture of the former Everton misfit’s showing against the Addicks, but the reaction after the final whistle suggests they are growing increasingly impatient with his failure to find the back of the net.
