Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has been singing the praises of Manchester United winger Nani.
Portugal international Nani joined Sporting from United on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at the Premier League club by new manager Louis van Gaal, but Carvalho has welcome his compatriot back at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
‘He’s a home-grown player, so he was well received’, the 22-year-old told the Champions Magazine. ‘And, of course, he has more experience than most of us. He’s a leader who will pass on his experience to the younger players and that will help us reach our goals’.
Nani has been in impressive form for Sporting so far this season and has undergone a ‘rebirth’ at his former club. He has scored two goals in six Primeira Liga appearances, and two in three Champions League matches. Nani has also created eight chances in the European competition and has a pass accuracy of 78%.
Carvalho, who was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window, has also revealed that he takes Nani’s advice as he continues to develop his game.
‘Nani is a player with a lot more experience and when he gives advice, I try to listen to it’, said the youngster.
It seems that Nani has taken Carvalho under his wing at Sporting.
