Serie A side Roma are reportedly ready to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Wissam Ben Yedder.
The 24-year-old forward has been strongly linked with a winter move from Ligue One side Toulouse but French news source Le10 Sport has reported that Roma are ready to make the first move to sign him.
“Roma have made Ben Yedder one of its targets for the next window of the transfer market,” summarises L10S.
Tottenham have been linked with him as they seemingly look at good value for money ways to improve their front line.
Mauricio Pochettino was questioned thoroughly after the summer transfer window closed, as he decided against bringing in another striker to offer him an alternative to the trio of Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane up front.
However, he stood by his decision not to do business, suggesting Kane was a suitable alternative to the more experience duo currently ahead of him in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.
Spurs are also a side that don’t play with a traditional two man attack, preferring to pack their midfield with five players, which is the strongest area of their current team.
Considering the traditional difficulties, which come hand-in-hand with doing business in the winter window, Spurs may have preferred to wait until next summer before signing another striker.
Any side that goes into a winter market looking for a player, instantly has to pay a higher premium because that team only has one month to get the business done, which plays into the hands of the selling club.
However, if Ben Yedder is a desirable player for Pochettino, chairman Daniel Levy may have no choice other than to get his cheque book out and try to do a January deal to prevent Roma, or any other side, from poaching a key Tottenham target.
