Nobody could have predicted Keisuke Honda's magnificent start to the season for AC Milan, which seems to have made Manchester City jealous.
The Japanese talent is joint top of Serie A's scoring charts with six goals to his name and was the hero as his brace helped Milan overcome Verona last weekend.
While Fernando Torres struggles to get going after his loan switch from Chelsea, Honda has been the unexpected saviour and the 28-year-old is winning plaudits across the Italian media.
But Milan's directors have no intention of letting Honda leave just as he is starting to show what he is capable of and they have reportedly stated that he is not for sale at any price.
However, Milan will have to do without Honda between January 4 and 26 when he plays in the AFC Asian Cup and he could miss five Serie A games.
Milan vice-preisdent Adriano Galliani is said to be desperate to add Liverpool's Suso to the ranks by that time to fill the considerable void left by Honda's absence.
