Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle believes that either Barcelona or Real Madrid will win the Champions League this season.
The Queens Park Rangers first-team coach told Sky Sports: ‘I can’t see any further than the two Spanish teams, I really can’t. If (Luis) Suarez starts scoring goals as well, you have got to give Barcelona a chance. But Real Madrid are unbelievable. They have got balance now’.
Many Premier League followers would disagree with Hoddle and point out that Chelsea are in with a chance as well.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been the best team in the Premier League so far this season, and their 6-0 victory over NK Maribor at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday saw them regain their rhythm in Europe.
On paper, Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the three strongest sides in Europe, but Chelsea have a very competitive squad that can get results in the most difficult of matches.
Hoddle not counting Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City among the potential winners of the Champions League is understandable.
While Arsenal are pretty much also-rans in Europe’s premier competition, Liverpool are back in the Champions League after a five-year absence and City continue to misfire against the continent’s elite.
