Daniel Crowley struck an impressive hat-trick as Arsenal took on Anderlecht in the UEFA under-19 Youth League.
It was not enough however to prevent the young Gunners slipping to a 4-3 defeat to the Belgians.
Crowley, 17, only signed a professional contract with the club in June, after arriving a year earlier from Aston Villa's academy.
He now has four goals in four games for the under-19 side this season, and one in eight for the under-21s.
Attacking midfielder Crowley scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes before hitting a penalty late on to reduce Arsenal's deficit.
It was the young Gunners' first loss in four under-19 games this season, which was not helped by the absence of two ley players. Regular goalkeeper Ryan Huddart has been drafted into the first team as cover, while striker Kaylen Hinds, who had scored three goals previously, missed the game through injury.
Crowley has 13 caps with England's under-17 side, and has a contract with Arsenal running until 2017.
