On this day: Evra hints over future, Leeds United suspend winger

Stories about Arsenal, Manchester United and Leeds United all feature.

The latest round of Premier League action is complete and as Louis van Gaal fumes that Manchester United didn’t get a win at West Brom, all eyes turn to the Champions League and Championship games this evening.

Manchester City and Chelsea are in European action from the top flight while there’s a full fixture list in English football’s second tier.

We’ve decided to cast our minds back to this day last year to see which stories were taking up the headline space.

‘United star hints at exit’

Ex-Manchester United defender Patrice Evra hinted that he was heading for an exit from Old Trafford.

Evra said he wasn’t concerned about his contract being due to expire and implied that, for personal reasons, he wasn’t going to sign a new deal.

“It is a personal thing. It is not that Manchester United do not want me to sign a new contract,” he told Telefoot.

‘Leeds suspend Ryan Hall’

Leeds United suspended winger Ryan Hall as they looked into a disciplinary issue.

Hall had failed to feature for Leeds by the same point last season and the BBC reported that the suspension was to due with messages Hall had sent from his Twitter account.

‘It was like PlayStation football’

Mesut Ozil described Jack Wilshere’s goal against Norwich City as like something out of a PlayStation game.

Wilshere’s effort in the 4-1 win was voted one of the best goals from last season.

“It was real 'tiki taka' - almost like they were playing PlayStation! It was an unbelievable goal,” he told Arsenal Player.
