Napoli eye ex-Blackburn and QPR defender

Christopher Samba

There are reports in Spain that Serie A side Napoli are considering a move for ex-Blackburn and Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba.

Napoli are likely to try and strengthen their defensive ranks in January and rumours state that they will approach Dynamo Moscow defender Christopher Samba.

The 30-year-old stopper is well travelled and has played in his native France, Germany, England and now Russia.

Samba wore a Blackburn shirt between 2007 and 2012 before making a big-money move to Anzhi Makhachkala.

To many people's surprise, Queens Park Rangers then paid £12.5 million for Samba in January 2013. Samba's vast wage bill, reported to be £100,000 per week, became untenable when QPR were relegated and he returned to Anzhi.

From Anzhi, Samba moved to Dynamo Moscow in August 2013, but he has been regularly linked with a return to England because members of his family are still there.

According to Spanish website, Napoli are plotting a possible January swoop for Samba, whose contract expires in June 2015.

Dynamo may be willing to accept a low fee because they face the possibility of losing Samba for free should he run down his contract.
