Former Manchester United defender Paul McGrath was far from impressed with the club's defending against West Brom.
So frustrated was the former Irish international, that he joked that he was considering making a comeback to help out.
McGrath made the comment via his Twitter feed after Saido Berahino scored West Brom's second goal at the Hawthorns, and added another after the final whistle blew on the 2-2 draw.
Going to try get myself fit and get back into that Defence!! Man United all over the place ...— Paul McGrath (@Paulmcgrath5) October 20, 2014
Very disappointed with Man United tonight , thought they might get the 3 points but defensive problems are still glaringly obvious !— Paul McGrath (@Paulmcgrath5) October 20, 2014
McGrath was far from the only one to question the performances of the backline against the Baggies. Fellow ex-United defender Paul Parker criticised Phil Jones, while ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher went onto suggest the club need to continue their pursuit of centre-back Mats Hummels.
Manager Louis van Gaal is a perfectionist who will not stand for sub-par displays, and Jones, Rojo and Rafael and Shaw each failed to shine, individually or as a unit.
They have a chance to prove the critics wrong when Chelsea come to visit this weekend, but also face the league leaders confirming all the negativity towards their lack of quality.
