To say that Liverpool's back four have struggled so far this season would perhaps be the understatement of the millennium.
And Dejan Lovren & Martin Skrtel have been a major part of the problem. The Reds' experienced centre-back, as well as their £20 million summer signing, have seriously underwhelmed at the heart of Brendan Rodgers' defence.
Luckily for them, they don't have any big games coming up soon. Oh, actually, there's the small matter of Real Madrid coming to Anfield on Wednesday...
"We will not play as we did against QPR when we play Real Madrid, you can be sure of that. We will be better," Lovren is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
"We cannot play the way we did against QPR because we know what we can expect from Real Madrid. Their players, we know who they are and we will prepare a little bit different.
"It's not daunting. It's a pleasure to play against these players. I am not afraid. No-one in our team is afraid. We respect their players but we will show something completely different on Wednesday."
And Skrtel said very similar: "We know it wasn’t good enough but we will try to improve. It wasn't the best performance from us at QPR, we know that and we know we have to try and improve in all ways.
“The easiest way is always to criticise the defenders and the keeper but I’ve said it before that defending isn’t only about the back four, it is about the whole team. We are attacking together and we are defending together. It’s more about the team.”
Let's hope they are right. Or we could witness a footballing massacre.
