Louis van Gaal comments on catching Chelsea and Manchester City

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is still aiming for the Premier League title, despite early season setbacks.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has vowed to maintain his side's attacking philosophy as they clash with Premier League leaders Chelsea this weekend.

United's fragile defence was left exposed - not for the first time this season - by the team's forward-thinking mentality against West Bromwich Albion on Monday. Daley Blind's late goal salvaged a point at The Hawthorns, but the club could easily have emerged empty-handed.

The Red Devils are now 10 points behind the top-flight leaders ahead of their visit to Old Trafford on Sunday. Nonetheless, when asked if his side can catch the current title leaders, former Barcelona coach Van Gaal replied, according to Eurosport: "That is possible. It is difficult to say, because I am then arrogant, but I have done it a lot of times, like at Barcelona. Chelsea is another level and then Manchester City also. But we have to see if we can beat them."

Chelsea, who are currently unbeaten in this season's competition, represent Van Gaal's greatest test with United so far, but a positive result against Jose Mourinho's side will provide a momentous boost. The following weekend the Red Devils will take on city-rivals Manchester City.
