Manchester City midfielder Fernando has revealed his best all-time XI on the club's website which includes two players who have graced the Premier League, naming former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world.
He included former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele who helped the Blues win two Premier League titles during Jose Mourinho's first spell at Stamford Bridge, and former United forward Ronaldo who helped United win three Premier League titles, as well as the Champions League, FA Cup, and the League Cup on two occasions.
Unsurprisingly there were a number of Brazilians in Fernando's line-up including Cafu, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo as his side included players he looked up to.
In his accompanying interview, Fernando said that Makelele, a defensive midfielder, was a player that all squads need to have.
On Cristiano Ronaldo he said: "Cristiano Ronaldo has won so many prizes and is the best player in the world."
Ronaldo has several accolades outside his time with Manchester United both on a personal level and at club level with his current side Real Madrid.
There is little surprise that as many as six Brazilians feature in Fernando's side given that he grew idolising a side that won the World Cup, and when his national side was blessed with so many superstars.
Fernando's XI: Tafferel, Cafu, Thuram, Maldini, Roberto Carlos, Makelele, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, C Ronaldo, Ronaldo.
