Italian striker Graziano Pelle is fast developing into one of the signings of the recent summer transfer window.
An €8 million acquisition from Feyenoord, Pelle was leading a journeyman career for much of his life yet came-of-age in the Eredivisie recently as he netted 55 goals in 66 appearances in all competitions for De Trots van Zuid.
Even though Pelle left the Netherlands for England, he has continued his fine form as he is already responsible for either scoring (six) or assisting (one) once every 102 minutes he is on a Premier League field.
And he has even proven a deadly finisher for the Azzurri, also, as he scored on his debut for Italy.
Southampton skipper Jose Fonte believes this is all beneficial for the South Coast club.
"Graziano is showing he is a great player and we are all pleased for him because he scored for Italy, came back and scored again for us," said Fonte, as quoted by the Daily Star.
Fonte has asked for even more of his team-mate, though, as he does not believe the 29-year-old should rest on his laurels. If anything, Pelle needs to up his game even further.
"It means more will be demanded from him now and he knows that," Fonte concluded.
