Angel Di Maria was at the heart of Manchester United’s attacking play against West Brom last night and while he didn’t add to his Premier League goal tally, he looked dangerous throughout the 2-2 draw.
The nature and quality of teams in the Premier League may have come as a shock to the Argentine but he seems to be a top investment for United and is likely to score plenty of important goals over the course of the season.
We’ve taken a look at some of the key stats from his performance last night.
|Team||Pos||Total Scoring Att||Apps||Mins|
|Ángel Di María||Man Utd||MF||4||1||76|
4 – The number of shots Di Maria had during the game, with three on target. He’ll be frustrated he didn’t get a goal.
2 – The number of key passes he played during the game, only Daley Blind played more.
81% - His passing accuracy over 90 minutes, which was bettered significantly by five players who also started for United.
|Ángel Di María||Man Utd||MF||2||1||76|
2 – The number of times he was dispossessed last night, which is an area of his game that Louis van Gaal will want to improve, especially against Chelsea this weekend.
1 – He made just one successful interception, which was more than Robin Van Persie, Juan Mata or Ander Herrera.
|Ángel Di María||Man Utd||MF||20||1||76|
20 – The number of crosses he made during the game. His crossing ability is world class and will definitely give United an edge and create chances when he plays wider on the left hand side.
Di Maria needs to be right at the very top of his form when United host Chelsea this weekend and if he gets three shots on target against the Premier League leaders, there’s a good chance he’ll convert one of them.
No one will be more frustrated than himself that he didn’t score although he nearly produced one of the goals of the season so far when he brought the ball down after a long pass, before a quick turn and shot which was unfortunately straight at the goalkeeper.
