Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers appears to have given an emphatic answer in regards to Victor Valdes' long mooted move to Anfield.
In an extensive interview for Spanish newspaper AS, the Reds boss was asked by Guillem Balague if another Spanish player would be heading to the club in December or January, to which Rodgers simply replied, “No.”
Reports had suggested Valdes would sign a contract with Liverpool sooner rather than later, as Rodgers looked for possible goalkeeping options as competition for current number one Simon Mignolet.
As a free agent, Valdes seemed the most likely option, but it now appears Liverpool are looking elsewhere.
The most recent reports have claimed a move for the former Barcelona ‘keeper fell through when he refused to go on trial at Anfield. But whatever the truth, Rodgers has seemingly ruled out a move for Valdes – or any of his countrymen for that matter – in the coming months.
