Patrice Evra has said that he spoke to Carlos Tevez before deciding on the switch from Manchester United to Juventus.

Juventus defender Patrice Evra has revealed that he spoke to Carlos Tevez before leaving Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Tevez played for the Red Devils for two years between 2007 and 2009, and established a great friendship with Evra, who had joined the Premier League giants from AS Monaco in January 2006 for a reported transfer fee of £5.5 million.

Evra signed a contract extension with United in May, but just two months later he moved to Juventus on a two-year contract for a reported transfer fee of £1.2m.

The France international left-back has now revealed that he spoke to Tevez before joining the Argentine striker at Juventus.

‘He is one of the reasons I chose Juventus’, the 33-year-old told the Champions Magazine. ‘I talked to him on the phone and asked for a few tips, and he told me: Come here, you will see, it is a great club!

‘To see Tevez again, to play with him again, is really enjoyable. When he left, it really hurt to see him with a shirt different from United’s. Yet making the same jokes, we are great friends on and off the pitch’.

Evra has settled in well at Juventus, having created eight chances in three Serie A appearances while having a pass accuracy of 78%.

Meanwhile, Tevez, who moved to the Italian champions in the summer of 2013, has scored six goals, created 16 chances and has a 87% pass accuracy in five league appearances so far this season.
