Neil Lennon wants to sign former Celtic striker from Norwich - report

The new Bolton manager is said to want the Canaries striker on loan.

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon wants to sign former Celtic striker Gary Hooper from Norwich, according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Bhoys manager, who left the SPL champions this summer, guided Bolton to a win during his first game in charge at St Andrews on Saturday.

But Lennon still sees the need for improvement - and has reportedly identified a new striker as one of his main priorities.

That's where Norwich City man Hooper comes in, with the Northern Irishman having worked with the striker during his time at Celtic.

Lennon was the coach who brought the 26-year-old to his former club and will look to sign him once again this time around on a loan deal.

As Opta stats show, the Trotters are in need of a goalscorer.

On-loan striker Joe Mason has scored four times this Championship season but only four other Bolton players have netted, with defender Mat Mills being the only other member of Lennon's squad to score more than once.

Whether Hooper is the right man to turn to is another matter, however, with the 26-year-old having scored just six league goals since moving to Carrow Road.
