The Spaniard has been keeping close with his fellow countrymen.
The Spaniards have been giving Mata advice at Old Trafford - even though Herrera arrived in Manchester after the former Chelsea forward - and now form a close friendship at the club.
And the 26-year-old admits he spends 'almost every day' with the Spanish duo.
"De Gea told me that at first it was difficult because he did not know the language," Mata said in an interview with El Pais.
"When I got [here, he] helped me a lot and now we take a hand [to] Ander, with whom I have a very close relationship because our way of interpreting life is similar.
"We spend almost every day together."
Manchester United face Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday, prompting a potential reunion between Mata and his former side, after facing West Brom at the Hawthorns earlier tonight.
