A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has called on his best players to perform in the Champions League this week.

City travel to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow after two disappointing results against Bayern Munich and Roma at the start of this season’s competition.

“I always say when you want to win something you need a team that knows how to play. After that, you need to have your best performance. We have very important players and, of course, they must make the difference after the team plays in the way I like,” said the Chilean.

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has spoke out about the period just before he left the club.

Lescott says Manuel Pellegrini’s decision not to play him in the League Cup final was the hardest part to take.

“'I played every minute, captained the semi-final, then not playing (in the final) was the hardest part,” he said.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says the best is yet to come from the side after their 4-1 win against Tottenham.

Hart has suggested that the team have a lot more to offer ahead of some very important fixtures.

“We are building and have a lot more to offer this season. It was a difficult start but it's difficult for any top team. We are chasing Chelsea but we have our head down and focusing on Manchester City,” said the shot stopper.
