Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been speaking ahead of the Blues’ Champions League encounter with CSKA Moscow.
The two sides go head-to-head on Tuesday, and the Chilean believes City midfielder Yaya Toure is approaching his best form.
In quotes published by the Guardian, Pellegrini said, “I don’t agree exactly with the media that Yaya has had a bad season.
“Every game he is playing better. He had a very complicated summer, but he is arriving towards his best performances.”
City will certainly hope so, with Chelsea leading the way in the Premier League so far and the Blues with a long way to go if they want to make their mark in Europe.
The Argentine international said of their chances this season, “No, it takes time, it takes time.
“We know that we are a team, a club that has been improving these last few years. We have to keep working hard to try to win games and try to learn from our mistakes in Europe.”
If City can do that, they could still qualify from their group and make a mark in the knock-out rounds, but they have a lot to do before they get that far after their opening two group matches yielded just one point.
