Chris Martin says that John Eustace was a colossus in defence against Reading at the weekend.
The Rams won the fixture 3-0, with Martin hitting the target to maintain his good goalscoring form, but he was quick to praise the form of his teammates.
Eustace, in particular, earned special praise from the striker - with the former Norwich City man saying that his display was one of the key reasons for the victory.
"The back four did well to get another clean sheet and Eusty (John Eustace) was a colossus for us again," he said to the Derby Telegraph.
"We didn’t play our best football. We’ve played much, much better than that and come away with less than that."
“That’s the way it goes sometimes in the Championship – but you’ve got to take your chances when they come along and, luckily, we were able to do that."
Steve McClaren's men appeared to have hit the groove, after moving slowly out of the blocks this season, and they are now in the top-two.
It is a position which many people predicted the club would finish in at the beginning of the campaign.
Derby were the bookies' favourites to win the Championship before the season kicked off and nothing on show so far has changed the opinion of this.
If they are to meet their expectations they will need to keep this good form up, though, and Martin's form will be key to this.
The striker is already their top-goalscorer this season, but he refused to take too much acclaim for his good form and insists that he is lucky to play in a team which provides him with so many chances.
“It’s going well, though I’m heavily reliant on the service I get from the boys day in, day out,” he said.
“I play in a team that creates a lot of chances, so I’m very lucky."
“There’s nothing worse, as a striker, than being in a team that doesn’t create much."
“I’m fortunate we’ve got a free-flowing attacking mentality."
“Hopefully, I can keep popping up in the box at the right time and get on the end of a few things.”
