Chelsea youngster close to making breakthrough.
Teenager Dominic Solanke will be in the first team squad again for Chelsea this week.
The 17-year-old was on the substitutes bench in the Premier League victory over Crystal Palace, and he is to get another such opportunity, this time in the Champions League.
Chelsea confirmed on the club website ahead of the group stage tie at home to Maribor:
"In the absence of Diego Costa, Dominic Solanke, 17, was named on the bench at the weekend and will again be among the subs for tomorrow’s game."
With Didier Drogba out injured in addition to Costa's absence, calling up a young striker such as Solanke is a must.
Summer signing Loic Remy led the line at the weekend and is expected to against the Slovenian side.
Solanke also has the fact Patrick Bamford is out on loan at Middlesbrough as reason to thank for him being next in line.
He is though a terrific prospect, England's top scorer in their European Championship under-17 winning side in the summer, and has been tipped as a future full international by manager Jose Mourinho.
If Remy and Chelsea can put the Blues up early into a comfortable lead, with a trip to Manchester United on the horizon at the weekend, Solanke could very well get his full debut on the big stage.
