Advantage Leeds? Norwich boss sweating over fitness of key duo

Norwich Carrow Road 2

Norwich City boss Neil Adams is sweating over the fitness of two key players ahead of the game against Leeds United.

Norwich City manager Neil Adams has confirmed the club are sweating over the fitness of Jos Hooiveld and Kyle Lafferty ahead of the Championship game against Leeds United tomorrow night.

Adams has been left frustrated by three games without a win, suggesting the Canaries will make changes for the game as they look to prolong Leeds’ winless streak under Darko Milanic.

“Laffs didn’t train Thursday or Friday with the knee injury he got in the second international game (for Northern Ireland) and we left it as late as we could,” said Adams.

“The physio had a look at him on Saturday morning and he wasn’t ready. Jos was something similar, it was just an innocuous blow on his knee at training on Friday.”

Norwich have seen their position at the top of the Championship slip. They’re now in the play-off place and will be eager to put three points on the board, which will help them to keep pace with the sides above them in the table.

However, Leeds can move to within three points of Norwich with a win themselves and Milanic will be keen for his side to ease the pressure over him, which has been building since he was appointed as the club’s new manager.

“Will we make changes? Yeah, possibly we will have to look at shaking things up. We have players there who deserve an opportunity, who have played well and done nothing wrong, but when you go three games without a win it is something you have to look at.”

It would be a risk for Adams to throw Hooiveld or Lafferty straight back into the team because they haven’t had any football since the two week international break.

Norwich to be right on the pulse from the get-go because Leeds are desperate for three points at the moment and will be well supported away from home, as they always are around the country.

It should be a great match to watch.
