93% pass accuracy, 69 touches - Stoke midfielder delivers his best display of the season

Stoke City Britannia Stadium

Charlie Adam was deservedly voted Stoke's man of the match against Swansea.

Stoke City needed a while to 'get to grips' with Swansea City yesterday, according to midfielder Charlie Adam.

But, when they did, (with a little help from Michael Oliver, no doubt) Mark Hughes' side managed to turn the tide and secure a valuable three points at the Britannia Stadium.

Those three points have lifted them up to 10th in the Premier League table, level with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

One man, though, deserves more credit than anyone for the victory. And that's Adam himself.

As Opta stats show, the 28-year-old delivered by far his best performance of the season. The Scot was voted man of the match against the Swans - and rightly so.

It was only Adam's second 90-minute showing of the campaign but it was a considerable upgrade on his first 90-minute display. The Stoke midfielder landed 93 per cent of his passes (completing 41) and took 69 touches. He also made 14 successful final-third passes.

In every single key area above, Adam produced his best performance of the season so far. And the Scot also delivered the best performance in these departments of any Stoke player on the day. Indeed, no one made more passes, took more touches or completed more final-third passes (although Stephen Ireland matched his 14).

And let's not forget the 28-year-old tucking home his penalty with aplomb in the first half, either.
