Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti fired a warning to both Liverpool and Barcelona by claiming his side are ready for a challenging week.
The Reds host the Champions League holders on Wednesday in what will surely be a special European night at Anfield for both sides.
Madrid go into the game on the back of a 5-0 demolition of Valencia-based side Levante despite missing the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos through niggling injuries.
The trio are fully expected to be fit for Wednesday’s clash on Merseyside as Los Blancos boss Ancelotti fired a warning to their upcoming rivals by claiming his side are motivated for the challenge.
“Right now we have time to prepare for the next two encounters. We have a very competitive squad, with very motivated players and we have just completed an excellent match full of sacrifice, fight, concentration and goals.” He said, quoted by the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
Since losing 2-1 at home to Atletico Madrid in La Liga on 13 September, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit have bounced back to win seven games in a row, scoring an unbelievable 32 goals in the process.
Brendan Rodgers’s side in contrast have struggled of late, winning just once in the Premier League since August and losing to Basel 1-0 in their last Champions league outing.
The clash on Wednesday will mark the first game between the two European giants since 10 March 2009 where the Reds secured a memorable 4-0 victory in the Champions League knockout stages.
