PHOTOS: Glen Johnson's horrible goal-saving challenge for Liverpool

Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson got away with one for Liverpool yesterday.

Liverpool v QPR at Loftus Road yesterday was the game of fine margins to end the game of fine margins.

Liverpool came away with the three points after a late own goal from Steven Caulker, following a late equaliser from Eduardo Vargas and following a late seemingly winner from Philippe Coutinho, which followed a late equaliser from Eduardo Vargas - follow that?

If one moment typifies the games topsy-turvy nature it is the goalmouth challenge of Glen Johnson on Sandro and Charlie Austin - which certainly prevented a goal from QPR.

With Simon Mignolet spread eagled in the middle of the box an open goal beckoned for the QPR player that got to the ball first.

But it is no wonder Sandro came off with a groin injury, after the tackle Johnson through in on the pair of them.

There are two perspectives to this argument.

Firstly it was a full blooded attempt from the player to prevent his team conceding. Johnson through himself into the challenge knowing he must make it to prevent a goal from the opposing team.

Then there is the other perspective. It was reckless, dangerous and very much over the top. If the referee has seen it he may have very well given away a penalty and been sent off.

Fine margins indeed.
