After an hour's delay because of a dodgy scoreboard Newcastle United fans were certainly wondering if it was worth the wait after a dire 25 minutes between them and Leicester City. But the game burst into action eventually, once the players had got into the mood of a 4pm kick off, and in the end Newcastle earned their first win of the season.
Courtesy of a goal and performance from Gabriel Obertan.
The gangly Frenchman has bags of talent. We know this. That is why Sir Alex Ferguson splashed out around £3 million to sign him from Bordeaux in 2009.
His career never took off at Old Trafford, and in 2011 Newcastle United added him to their growing French contingent.
However he has struggled on Tyneside and in the summer was even told he can leave by Alan Pardew. But in desperate times the manager turned to the trickster, who has not let him down.
He has been brilliant in recent weeks and yesterday finally thrust him onto the limelight to those not supporting The Magpies to see just how good he is.
He dived in from the left hand side, jinking past players as he went, before smashing in an unstoppable right-foot finish beyond Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal-mouth.
The exciting fact for Newcastle fans however is this. Despite him seemingly being around forever Obertan is still only 25-years-old - leaving him with plenty of time to come good for the club.
Newcastle fans were clearly impressed. Here is a selection of the best Tweets in Obertan's performance...
