Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been looking ahead to his side’s next three games in the Premier League.
The Red Devils return to league action on Monday when they take on West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns. Next weekend United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford before kicking off November by confronting city-rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Van Gaal believes that the following three games will be crucial for United and told MUTV: ‘These are very good clubs.
‘West Bromwich Albion are very difficult to beat away, but of course Chelsea and Manchester City are the better teams in the Premier League. Once we have played these three matches we can see where we are. Hopefully we will have nine points’.
On paper United should get the better of the Baggies on Monday and maintain their place in the top four of the Premier League. However, picking up points against Chelsea and City will be a different story altogether.
Chelsea have been the most impressive team in the English top flight so far this campaign and are yet to suffer a defeat. Jose Mourinho’s side have picked up 22 points from eight matches, while scoring 23 goals and conceding eight.
Defending Premier League champions City are currently second in the league table with 17 points and have started to get into fearsome form.
If United can take maximum points from their next three league fixtures, then they will certainly become genuine contenders for the Premier League title.
