Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling on win v Queens Park Rangers in Premier League

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he and his teammates were ‘lucky’ to win against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

The Reds picked up maximum points from the Premier League encounter at Loftus Road with a thrilling 3-2 victory.

The Merseyside outfit went ahead midway through the second half through an own goal from Richard Dunne, but they were pegged back when Eduardo Vargas scored in the 90th minute.

Philippe Coutinho’s subsequent goal for Liverpool was cancelled by Vargas’s deflected effort, but the visitors had the last laugh as Steven Caulker scored a late own goal.

‘We are still in shock, to be honest’, midfielder Gerrard told Sky Sports. ‘We were very lucky today. We are very lucky to come away with three points. Our performance needs to be better’.

‘We hung in there and got the three points that we didn’t deserve’, added Raheem Sterling. ‘That’s part of football and we came away with three points. We were lucky really’.
